The Voice In Singing

The voice in singing; translated from German

On Valentine’s Day, 1890, the University of Toronto lost most of its collection in a fire. Only 800 items remained of the collection’s 33,000 books, and of those 800, Emma Seiler’s The Voice in Singing was the only musical survivor. Word spread about the University’s loss, and within four years, the library grew larger than its previous holdings, relying almost entirely on donations.
