Canadian composer. This is an Eskimo Hunting Song. Free use is made by the composer of an authentic Coppermine Eskimo dance song. This song is one of a collection gathered during the Canadian Arctic Expedition (1913-18) for the Canadian government and commanded by Vihjalmur Stefansson. The music is an original conception based on a study of Eskimo folk-songs and is set in low key to emulate the native timbre as far as possible.
