The card catalogue used to find books and scores in the library. All items where described by title, author/composer and subjects. Cards where made for each entry needed for each item and sorted in the card catalogue alphabetically.
Hugh Hornby Langton was the first chief librarian at the University of Toronto. He donated the first scores to the University of Toronto's music collection.
