All library items were accessioned, recorded, and given a number in these "accession" books that served as an index of the libraries collection.

The Voice in Singing is the only volume to survive a fire in the main library in 1890.

Hugh Hornby Langton was the first chief librarian at the University of Toronto. He donated the first scores to the University of Toronto's music collection.
